nLite installation and automatic windows update

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi again,

I think, this would by one of my last questions about nLite.

I create SP3 unattended installations, fully automated. Everything works very well.

Therefore, In the nLite options, I specified my activation Key and other minor options. Then, one of the options I specified was: NOT to install automatically the windows updates (you know, the yellow warning icone near the clock) but only warn my when there are some to download and install. I prefer this system because I can write them down and include the KB patchs to my next nLite installation.

The problem is, even if I checked the WARN me before download and install, after the installation is finished, when I check this into the GUi, it's selected as AUTOMATICALLY download and install without warn me. Do you know if it's a WinXP feature or an nLite bug?

Thanks for your answers.

[Edit] I've attached the Last_session.ini

Lorinette, need to see your Last Session.ini - please attach (not paste) it. Have you run nLite more than once against the same source or included more than one SP? I don't think you have found an nLite bug, I use the same options and it works fine for me. Enjoy, John.

Lorinette, I have Notify Before Update and that is 3 in my Last Session. You have 2 and I suspect this is Download and Notify of Installation. Please look at your Unattended-Automatic Updates tab and tell us what you have selected. Enjoy, John.

Yes John, that's exactly what I have. The number 2 checked is fine, but then, why isn't it respected after installation? Why this is checked on number 1 automatically?

Lorinette, I really think you want Notify Before Update (3). This will notify you before it DLs. Please post a screen shot of My Computer-Properties-Automatic Updates tab. Have you searched to see if anyone else has this problem? Make sure you always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders. Enjoy, John.
