memnoch_thedevil
Hi all, new to the forums here, got redirected to this nice site from another. I have been reading a bit here on the forums, and I will continue, but some of this stuff escapes me. Any way, I have Vista Ultimate x64 installed, and since I have had it installed, I have had several updates, and SP 1 installed, and drivers for all of my various equipment. Lately, Vista seems unstable, I am having increased boot times, programs are taking longer to load, and some times they even hang, there seems to be more sporadic jumps in the cpu usage at idle then before (sometimes up to 50%), and there just seems to be a lot of scattered remains from programs I have used and taken off. So like I usually do after a couple of months, is do a fresh install. I want to make a striped down version though. I want to include SP1, and all of the updates (if possible?), and add all of the drivers to the drivers already installed. Also I am wondering if someone with more experience than me (basically everyone on here lol) can help me configure services and what not to ensure that the least amount of stuff is running on my machine, and that nothing connects to the net w/o my knowledge.I read the step by step for vlite and SP1, but it does not go into drivers or updates etc...also do I need both the WAIK AND Windows Imaging Driver? Or does either one work? Forgive me if all of this has already been covered, and feel free to point it out if I missed it! Also, don't be afraid to treat me like an illiterate and walk me through this step by step Thanks!

Kelsenellenelvian
YAY an impatient noob!!!It takes time to answer. We are not a paid for service....EDIT:OK heres the deal! I went ahead and just TRIED it!!! Only needing WAIK and vLite..I selected integration and went to the drivers page, after clicking the little box on top I integrated a handfull of vista system drivers and I walked the 5' to my test pc and installed Vista on it. IT WORKED!!!As for services just goto blackvipers page http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm for vista services and use his guide. (While not perfect it is a good guide on services and what they are and which to enable\disable)Total time to try 1 HOUR!!Total time you have wasted? 8hours... memnoch_thedevil
Sorry if I was unclear, I not only want to integrate the Vista drivers, but the additional drivers that I have installed (ie sound card, video card, etc...). And sorry if I seemed impatient, it has been a trying few days. I appreciate the post, and the link to Viper's page, I will explore that when I get some more time. As for WAIK, is there a link somewhere to an older version of vLite, that has the included necessary files? Or am I stuck downloading over 1GB from MS to be able to use it?When I get a little more time I will play with vLite and read through the guide again to see if I can figure it out, thanks for the help! And no offense but someones math is off...hardly 8 hours, more like a little over 30 hours

JatinBeniwal
HeyYou have to download WAIK its necessary. you can use vlite to integrate service pack 1 and all drivers that is sound , display etc. Download vlite from www.vlite.net and your windows is sluggish because of low amount of ram. Use x64 with alest 4 GB ram.Enjoy
