gpedit.msc error, possibly a missing service?

Hi folks, I am so used to my nlited Windows, when something goes wrong I don't realize it could be because I removed a little to much.

Now it seems to have come this far. When I run GPedit.msc, I get the red icon with white cross and the message (in Dutch since I have Dutch XP SP3) in the right pane "the module cannot be created" and the left pane is very empty. See the screenshot.

I opened services.msc and started all the service that were not running. But it didn't help. I did notice that "compatibility for fast user-switching" could not be started. The error is "error 1075: the dependant service does not exist or is marked for removal". While I have the terminal service and the RPC service up and running.

Don't know if the two problems are related.

Here is the list of services I removed with nLite:

;# Services #

Alerter

Application Layer Gateway

Distributed Link Tracking Client

Error Reporting

IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service

Indexing Service

Messenger

QoS RSVP

Remote Registry

Removable Storage

Service Advertising Protocol

System Restore Service

Text Services Framework

Uninterruptible Power Supply

Volume Shadow Copy

Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

It's not that much right?

Btw I am experiencing this error in VirtualPC. Could it be that GPEDIT.msc does not work in a virtual machine?

Gpedit.msc works fine in both VPC and Vbox for me.

believe that error may be "the specified module could not be found" in the ENG version. There are plenty of hits on that.

The following is a post that at least outlines how he determined .dlls were not registering and one where the MVP suggests reregistering the gpedit.dll
