Hi,

The Run command is missing from my XP unattended install. I chose Classic Start Menu and do not have "Hide Run Button" selected in the Tweaks option.

Ideas?

U can check your registry. If this registry key exists, then your Runbox will not be shown (in both XP Theme or Classic).

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRun"=dword:00000001

If the above key exists, u can delete it using command line tool reg.exe with the following:

reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v NoRun /f

Logout, then login again to see changes.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRun"=-

all three of the above examples does the same, removing the entry "NoRun" from the Registry hive.

To remove not an entry but a directory, use

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

btw. the specification says that there has to be a blank line between the first and second, like in my examples.

So sorry for the delayed response - I have been away from an Internet connection for almost a week now. There is not a "NoRun" entry in the path you specified.

Any other ideas?

download and run (double click) the attached file, then reboot. after that your Run entry should be back!
