sabermonk Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I'm going to be getting another computer soon and I'm trying to get some of the setup work done now, but I have this issue:I have an extra copy of Windows XP Home Upgrade (upgrade from 98,ME, etc) that I want to use on the new computer. I'm familiar with using nLite to slim down the install and slipstream service packs. However, I would like to be able to do a completely unattended install with no need to insert my old Win98 cd for verification. Assuming that I have that CD and its cd-key, is there a way I can create a new install disk that contains whatever files are necessary for the verification, and will do it automatically?I apologize if the answer is obvious, I searched the forums and the web but could not find anything that addressed this question directly.
Ponch Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 The answer is no. Upgrade comes with that little annoyance. That's why it's cheaper.
johnhc Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Kurt_Aust says he got this to work for Win98se OEM and WinXP Pro upgrade. See his post, a few from the bottom. Enjoy, John.
