Problem Replacing isapnp.sys

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Well I been trying to fix my client's computer and this is the problem, It wont boot

It wants me to replace the file isapnp.sys

So I booted into Windows Recovery Console

and tried

expand H:\i386\isapnp.sy_ C:\windows\system32\DRIVERS

And it wont work!

I need to replace isapnp.sys in order for some system to boot.

So its either i'm doing it wrong or there is something more that is wrong with this system.

EDIT:

I even tried this approach http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315311 and it still didnt work, it just fails, it wont expand that file.

Have you used "set AllowAllPaths = TRUE" ?

Can you expand it to another place and copy it to system32\DRIVERS ?

Sometimes (often?) error descriptions are not accurate (something else is wrong).

Well I ended up getting it fixed anyways, I took the Hard drive out and put it in a external case and plugged it in and just put all new sys files in the drivers folder and it started right up.
