jmacie Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 !st off. thank you for vlite! It's the best program, ( in my opinion) written for optimizing windows. I have a laptop with dx8 video. I use un-aeroed Vista x86 with Microsoft's generic Ati wddm driver. I loaded w7 -6801. w7 only gives me a generic vga driver, and I can't get a 1440 X 900 display size, only 800 X 600 to 1200 X 768. Is there any way to extract the generic ati vista driver from vista install disk? I tried a few different things, including upgrade over vista to w7, but it still gives me generic vga driver. ATI and toshiba stopped supporting my laptop immediately after I bought it. Specs: P35-s611 with mobility 9100 igp. Any help would be appreciated, thx jm
Tripredacus Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 I haven't tried this before, but this would be how I would start.Search the INFs for your Hardware ID. You'll need a third-party search util, or do the search on something that isn't Vista, unless you've figured out how to do string searches! To make it easy, just search for 'VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx'. You need the & in there, and the xxxx are whatever values appear in Device Manager under the Details tab.
jmacie Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 Thank you ,Tripredacus, I'll try it, don't understand exactly what your sayin, but that never stopped me before, jm
