Can't do file search - why?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

When I click on search for files and folders, the little doggy companion comes up, but the rest of the left side of the screen is a solid blue. So I can't enter any search criteria.

Anybody have any idea why? Is this related to Java Scripting in some way?

Java Scripting is disabled on my computer, but so far I haven't been able to find anyone who knows why...

This is interesting. I'm not sure if it uses Java Scripting or not. Try and turn it on and see what happens. Is it possible you uninstalled the search function?

Theres numerous things it could be, Human Error, Ad-ware/Spyware, Virus, other programs causing conflicts, Also could be a hotfix got corrupted while installing something to do with Windows Search Function

So just narrow it all down and if not.. Maybe your Windows Installation got screwed up? (hey it happens...)

Well that is quite interesting. I really wouldn't think Microsoft Office would have anything to do with it. Maybe cause Microsofts Search Services is offline, it makes your computers search service offline too.. AHAHA (very unlikely)

When did it start doing that? Like after you did something recently, such as installed a program or something, or changed some registry keys?
