JaceMan Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) I see on file-sharing networks all the time that these hacked and pirate versions of Vista cannot be activated and require cheap hacks and avoiding updates to avoid constant re-installs. I'm not interested in that for numerous reasons (least of all piracy), but I am curious if I can take my own LEGITIMATE copy of Vista and make a vlite "distro" removing bloat that I don't want and don't use, yet still maintain the ability to activate my copy? I know that I can still update anything I don't strip, but it is important to me that I can still activate it as well. Can I do this with vlite? Edited October 31, 2008 by JaceMan
hclarkjr Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 what do you mean by this -I am curious if I can take my own LEGITIMATE copy of Vista and make a vlite "distro" ?
JaceMan Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 A "distro" is a DISTRIBUTION. It's very common in the Linux/BSD worlds. Think of it as a "flavor" of an operating system. So, what I meant by this was exactly what I asked... if I vlite my Vista install disc, can and will it still activate properly?Since I haven't received any responses and I'm not known for having the virtue of patience, I just finished using vlite. It is burning as I write this. I'll soon have the answer to my own question, I guess.
hclarkjr Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 yes it will activate. i think nuhi would have had lots of complaints by now if you could not activate after using vlite
