Bug_zs Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Guys/Gals, In another post I made:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=125121I noted that Windows Update said to install.....http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS06-014.mspxSecurity Update for Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 Service Pack 1 (KB911562)When I tried to do it I got three mini-windows that said that my version of MDACcould not be identified.I ran the MDAC Utility Component Checker v2.0 2005 and the ID window said that Ihad version "2.8 SP1 On Windows XP SP2" even though I'm running 98SE.What I'd like to do is start fresh and uninstall the MDAC and reinstall itbut I can't find a way to do it. All Google searches come up with "RunMDAC v2.8 and use it to uninstall MDAC". But running MDAC v2.8 will onlydo an install, with NO "Do you wish to uninstall?" option.Any suggestions?Bug_zs
dencorso Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 [...]I ran the MDAC Utility Component Checker v2.0 2005 and the ID window said that I had version "2.8 SP1 On Windows XP SP2" even though I'm running 98SE.That's normal. Mine also says that and it's running OK. Guess it's a bug in the Component Checker. Don't worry. What I'd like to do is start fresh and uninstall the MDAC and reinstall it but I can't find a way to do it. [...] Any suggestions?Yes. Let it be as it is or, even better, apply Maximus-Decim MDACCU while you're at it.
Bug_zs Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Den, thanks for the heads-up about the Component Checker.BTW: Just where can I find Maximus-Decim's MDACCU? Google came up empty.Bug_zs
dencorso Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Sorry, Bug_zs! I misspelt it. It's MDDACU. Find it here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Maximus-Decim-Da...ess-t93448.htmlBTW, even before Googling, always look here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Important-Stickified-P-t95815.html, where you'll find out that there is also the MDIE6CU, for IE6, by Maximus-Decim, which may be of interest to you.
