Guest Eyael Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 (edited) Hi!I've made a CD with nlite (latest version) to incorporate SP3 and hotfixes to my Win XP Pro Sp0. When I tried to install it on my new PC, I got an invalid VLK message whereas my key is genuine. I know it happened to other people because they made their CD using nlite on Vista but it is not my case. I made my CD on my neighbor's computer (my old one is only sp1 with a dial-up connexion this is why) which runs on Windows XP MediaCenter sp2 (I've used my own CD of Win XP Pro in case my post is unclear ). I'm really annoyed since my new HDD are sata-drives and I don't have a floppy drive on this PC so I cannot just use my original XP Pro CD and then install SP3. Anyone has suggestions on what I could try? Thanks so much for your help I cannot use my new PC until then. Edited October 27, 2008 by Eyael
MCT Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 nlite doesnt modify or change the way Microsoft accepts its VLKsif infact your copy is legit u can call microsoft to resolve this issue.if your copy of XP is Illegal then u can not look here
johnhc Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Eyael,Can you use a computer that has XP on it? I seem to remember several posts indicating it was not possible to nLite a WMC source and I do not know if this extends to making XP ISOs. Please do a search on WMC here and see what you find. You might also look at the WMC system and see if it has a XP SP2 Compatibility Mode.Good luck, John.
Guest Eyael Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Thanks so much for your replies. Actually I sorted my problem out when I realised I'd typed the wrong key which was for Widows 98 (right CD wrong box, I shall have to learn how to label my backup CD's correctly next time!). I'm really ashamed of such mistake. Hopefully it'll teach others airheads like me to check that kind of thing.
