LG DVD Combo will not read or burn CDs

i've got a LG DVD Combo that will not read or burn CDs but will only read DVDs.

can anyone help?

ASPI is already installed

i've tried booting from CD & still won't read cds

Mostlikely your drive is half dead...

do your routine diagnostics - check your cables, update your firmware, try copying all contents of a DVD to HDD and see if it gives errors during the process...

Optical drives like this normally use separate lasers for DVDs and CDs.

The one for CDs may be bad. Try again with an original audio CD. If this does not work either, that thing surely is dead.

Still under warranty? Return a.s.a.p.

Indeed, this is why I said it´s most likely half-dead .
