Grake Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 This may sound like a stupid question but it just stems out of me being have no patience. My computer is password protected, so right now when I start the computer it waits for me to input the password. Then I type it in and logs on. What I would like for it to do is, when I start the computer logon automatically without me having to enter the password, then load the desktop, then switch user. I ask this because I like to turn my system on then go do something else and come back to have it ready. I also don't want my computer hijacked by my parents/siblings when I come back from w/e I went to do. I don't want to sit there and enter the password then wait for desktop to load. Ridiculous I know haha but just asking
DigeratiPrime Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 So basically you want it to automatically login to your user account and load your profile, but then immediately lock the computer, so you can go do other things while it is booting up? Have you considered using Sleep or Hibernation mode instead of turning the computer off? You could have Windows autologon an account and then have a startup script that immediately locks the computer, then you could come back and log in. Otherwise I wonder if there is a way to load a user profile without loggin in...
Grake Posted October 23, 2008 Author Posted October 23, 2008 Yep, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not looking into sleep or hibernation, not my cup of tea
Geej Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I don't know if this is what you wantAdd a cmd script to your startup with this (which will lock your workstation)U can add a timeout.exe or sleep.exe to delay this scriptrundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
