Display Off After XP Reformatting

I just reformatted my home computer, but something doesn't look right visually. When I open a web browser all the text is the same basic generic font and when I move windows around on my screen it doesn't happen very smoothly. I have installed the driver for my video card and nothing changed. Any ideas?

download the latest drivers for your car

remove the video card from the device manager

uninstall any video card software from add/remove

reinstall the drivers

reboot

check your display properties and adjust to your liking.
