johnbbc Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 I have a Toshiba Tecra S3 and recently upgraded the hdd to a seagate 120gb. After a long and arduous search for the correct raid driver, I finally found it. I have to use F6 while setting up XP. Since my laptop doesn't come with a built-in floppy, I got a USB that worked fine until I was in the setup process. It kept on asking for the raid driver every single time so since it can't see my USB floppy, I get stuck. I tried to integrate the raid driver with XP using nLite but it doesn't see or load the driver. I don't get far because just in the initial process of the setup, it cannot find my new hdd. I think this means that the raid driver is not loading.Any help or suggestion is appreciated.
Tripredacus Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 There is only one hard-drive in this model. I am certain that its simple IDE controller wouldn't support RAID even if you managed to hook up two hard drives into it.In the BIOS, does it allow you to change the drive configuration? If so you may have a choice of IDE or AHCI, although considering the age of the notebook, I don't know if AHCI would even be an option anyways.Does the XP CD not find the hard drive if you do not do the F6?
johnbbc Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 Thanks for replying. XP doesn't see the drive but using F6 with the driver on the external floppy works. I have a nLite version of XP with the driver integrated but it still doesn't find it. Inside the BIOS, I have tried both the default JBOD and Raid but ended up with the same result.
