UNC_INFO Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hello to all.I'm new in the forum, but a little old in MSFN Site (visited since 2004). I did some unattended installations and all go good. This time I did a one that integrates the SP3 for Windows XP Professional and used the Unattended mode to change the WINNT.SIF to do a automatizated installation (No user answers required in GUI mode). It's all ok, but I missed the Repair function (the option in text mode that allows you to use the repair console or repair a Windows XP previous installation). The text mode start in the Partition screen, where you have to choose the partition for installation.Someone here have a WINNT.SIF that is possible to do a automatic installation in GUI mode (no user interaction needed) and the repair option enable in the text mode? I tried a lot of entries in WINNT.SIF but with no sucess. If someone could help me, I will be very gladP.S. Sorry for my bad English!
IcemanND Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 No this is not possible. You have to create a dual boot CD, one boot does the UA install the other does a standard install without the Winn.sif and allows the repair. It's been posted here numerous times.
jcarle Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Actually, there's another method.I just never had a chance to research it and/or do it. Basically, you have to create an executable that will replace winnt32.exe and rename the original winnt32.exe. You can then intercept the setup, display a menu, and launch the original (now renamed) winnt32.exe with the appropriate parameters (use a custom setup file or not).
UNC_INFO Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 Thanks a lot. I will seek these methods into forum, ok? The Dual boot seems to be the best way!Regards
