epic Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Could anyone provide me a solution as to why the network shares I create (compmgt.msc > Shared Folders > Shares) disappear and those that I stop sharing (administrative shares #$) are re-enabled after a reboot? Every time I reboot I need to re-share and disable the administrative shares.
nitroshift Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Have you tried to accomplish this through local group policy?
epic Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) Not sure what you mean by this, but I've checked the Policy settings and everything seem to be at their respective settings. This is a clean installation of Vista, no tweaks or anything, UAC is turned off. Edited September 18, 2008 by epic
epic Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Create a DWORD type as AutoShareWks with a value of 0.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters Name: AutoShareWksData Type: REG_DWORDValue: 0This will disable Vista automatically sharing ADMIN shares upon restart. Any shares that were personally created will no longer be deleted. Edited September 20, 2008 by epic
