Can someone tell me what this windows update is?

When I do a brand new install, and I click "windows update", IE opens, and the first thing it wants to do is install something called "windows update". Is this something I can slipstream?

I believe it is an update of the Update engine; it is contained in many post-SP3 packs (like the famous RyanVM pack); so yes: you can slipstream it.

You can find the latest version in KB949104. I don't know if nLite can slipstream it "as is." It's not too hard to put into an update pack, though.
