Ambassador Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) I am formatting my PC soon, and planning to use nLite to make a custom CD. Here are the key points:- The source CD is a Windows XP SP1 (Version 2002) "Upgrade"- SP3 will be slipstreamed- All available hotfixes will be slipstreamed.- Some unnessesary drivers and components will be removed.- WMP 10 will be slipstreamed depending on whether or not this is possible. My first question directly relates to the final point. Does the Windows XP source CD I mention above include WMP 9 or WMP 10? If the former, is it possible to slipstream WMP 10 in a similar fashion to the method of slipstreaming WMP 11 included in the FAQ portion of the nLite Website. My second question refers to the Windows Update 951698. Since I will be installing the latest DirectX after the installation, should I exclude this update, or is it safe to include it?My third question is far more broad, but I need to know what not to remove, if only with a broad idea. My computer's hardware is as follows- Samsung SH-S162A CD/DVD burner drive- Generic CD-ROM drive- ACPI PC- Maxtor 6Y060L0 Hard Drive- ATi Radeon 9000 Series Graphics card- Generic Floppy Drive- USB 1.0/1.1- Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000- Standard Keyboard- USB wired mouse- Samsung Syncmaster 960BF Monitor- D-Link DFE-530TX PC Fast Ethernet Adapter- SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter- AMD Athlon XP 2100+- Creative SB Live! Value Sound cardI will be either using the drivers included with Windows, or install drivers after install. Is there anything that I definitely should not replace?
