Featured Replies

Hello all,

so I recently reformatted and reinstalled XP on my aging computer; used nlite (awesome btw). but yeah, got everything reinstalled, but notice that my computer is telling me that I have only 120GB capacity on my HD, when i have a 250GB HD.

i dunno what the hell is up.

halp?

suggestions?

thanks!

How did you partitioned the HD? Check the configuration in BIOS is correct.

my computer is telling me that I have only 120GB capacity on my HD, when i have a 250GB HD.

That's because XP on it's own can't detect hard drives larger than about 130GB. (Assuming your Bios displays the correct size?)

You need to slipstream SP1, 2 or 3 into your XP disc, so it detects the correct hard drive size at the time of install.

If you don't want to do that, install one of the Service Packs and use the Disc Management tool.

Certain apps like the Intel Application Accelerator will also do the trick, but the best way is to slipstream SP3 into your XP CD.
