japs Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I'm newbie here, I just want to ask about the message that popup when I locate my windows installation, I already copy the i386 folder to my HD, locate it and it always says "Make sure that the selected folder or drive contains i386 or AMD64 directory and proper windows installation files...etc", if i click next it always say the message, How can I fix my problem? Thanks for any help.
johnhc Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I don't understand what you are doing for sure, but it sounds like you are not copying all the files from your install CD to a folder on your hard drive. Explore your install CD, select ALL Files and copy your entire CD into a folder on your HDD and point nLite to this folder.Good luck, John.
japs Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 I already copy the entire disk to my hdd, It's a megabook s430x notebook, the cd that I copy is the recovery disc... first, i copy only the folder name i386nand it didn't work, same message which is "Make sure that the selected folder or drive contains the i386 or amd64 directory and proper windows installation files, nlite is for a pre-installed environment only, meaning that it cannot modify an existing windows installation. An easy way is to insert your windows installation cd and select your cd drive.Never copy the files directly to a partition root, create an empty folder first." this is the message I always encounter when I point the location of the windows installation. What should I do? Thanks for the time.Japs

But, still I have the same message...
johnhc Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I have no experience with a recovery disk. I have seen other posts concerning using these disks. I suggest you search these forums for some information. My CD has 9 files/folders but I am running XP Pro x64 Edition and have an AMD64 folder.Good luck in your searching, John.
GrofLuigi Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 It's a megabook s430x notebook, the cd that I copy is the recovery disc...More often than not, recovery CD's from computer manufacturers aren't 'the real thing' - a proper windows installation source.GL
