clandestine Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 guys i'm having trouble with my installationone of the probelms seems to be with the winnt.sif filefor some reason the components section won't work at all. so i end up with those useless apps on my installs.setup also has problems with using the correct time zone.it never sets to the eastern time by default (35--i've tried both 035 and 35) .i don't wanna use other apps to achieve this, i just want to know what the probs might be.some details:xp cd base level: sp0 slipstreamed with sp2 and sp3 (using integrate switch)updated support and deploy tools(everything works fine with just sp2 streamed but after sp3 it gets funky)no additional changes so far.Winnt.sif;SetupMgrTag[Data]MsDosInitiated = 0UnattendedInstall = YesAutomaticUpdates = No[Unattended]UnattendMode = ProvideDefaultOemPreinstall = NoTargetPath = \WINDOWSOemSkipEula = YesUnattendSwitch = YesProgramFilesDir = "\Programs" CommonProgramFilesDir = "\Programs\Common Files" WaitForReboot = No[GuiUnattended]AdminPassword = **********EncryptedAdminPassword = YesOEMSkipRegional = 1OemSkipWelcome = 1TimeZone = 035ProfilesDir = "%systemdrive%\Profiles\"[UserData]ProductKey = ***************FullName = *****OrgName = ComputerName = *****[Display]AutoConfirm = 1[TapiLocation]CountryCode = 1[RegionalSettings]LanguageGroup = 13,17,3,2,5,16,4,12,15,7,8,10,11,9,6,14,1SystemLocale = 00000409UserLocale = 00000409InputLocale = 0409:00000409[Identification]JoinWorkgroup = *******[Networking]InstallDefaultComponents = Yes[Components]Accessopt = OffAutoUpdate = OffFax = OffFreecell = OffHearts = OffHypertrm = OffIndexsrv_system = OffMedia_clips = OffMinesweeper = OffMsmsgs = OffMsnexplr = OffOEAccess = OffPinball = OffRec = OffSolitaire = OffSpider = OffTemplates = OffZonegames = Offany help would be great

clandestine Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 hm, thought i read somewhere that sp2 was needed for sp3...but anyway.tried with just sp3 integrated, but the same problems persist.
PC_LOAD_LETTER Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 http://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-XP-SP3-FAQ-t117175.htmlQ: What Service pack level do I need to install SP3?A. XP SP1a or greater.Q: What Service pack level do I need to slipstream SP3?A. XP SP1a or greater for the OS you will be executing the slipstream process under. The Source/Destination OS can be any SP level (though most recommend that SP3 only be slipstreamed into SP0/GOLD/RTM Source.
clandestine Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 as i said in my 2nd post, i tried an integrate of sp3 on a sp0 source and the problems still persists.i also noticed that i can't do the install without the key, which doesn't really matter to me, but it might help diagnosing the problem. i'm doing the slipstream from a computer with xpsp3.does it matter if the source is vlk or retail maybe?or is because of the providedefault option?thanks for the reply though geek
PC_LOAD_LETTER Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 SP3 does not remove the prompt for CD key but it will let you skip it by pressing next.i didnt see anything wrong with your sif file by just skimming it though but its been a while since ive done anything to mine. i have it just the way i like itheres my winnt.sif autoformats full disk and proceeds 100% unattended all the way to the welcome screen (even establishes administrator password as 'nimda') [Data]AutoPartition=1UnattendedInstall=Yes MsDosInitiated=No[Unattended]Repartition=YesUnattendMode=FullUnattendedOemSkipEula=YesTargetPath=\WINDOWSWaitForReboot="No"AutoActivate=NoUnattendSwitch = YesAutomaticUpdates=yes OemPreinstall=Yes[GuiUnattended]AdminPassword=7833634c59943a40aad3b435b51404ee961493c3ef0d6581e9acfbb8ba2090a2EncryptedAdminPassword=YesAutoLogon=YesAutoLogonCount=1OEMSkipRegional=1TimeZone=20OemSkipWelcome=1[UserData]ProductKey=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXFullName="XXX"OrgName="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"ComputerName=*[TapiLocation]CountryCode=1Dialing=ToneAreaCode=918[FavoritesEx]Title1="XXXXXXXXXX.url"URL1="http://www.XXXXXXXXX"[Branding]BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes[URL]Home_Page=http://www.XXXXXXXXXXXXX[Proxy]Proxy_Enable=0Use_Same_Proxy=1[Identification]JoinWorkgroup=XXX[Networking]InstallDefaultComponents=Yes[Components]msmsgs=offmsnexplr=offOEAccess=offDeskpaper=offTemplates=offDialer=offFax=off[PCHealth]ER_Display_UI = 0ER_Enable_Reporting = 0RA_AllowToGetHelp = 0RA_AllowUnsolicited = 0[Shell]CustomDefaultThemeFile = "%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\XXXXXXXXX.Theme"[WindowsFirewall]Profiles = WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall[WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall]Mode = 0 [IEPopupBlocker]AllowedSites=www.XXXXXXX;mail.XXXXXXXXXXX
clandestine Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 well, i found the problem.apparently it was the providedefault mode. i guess there's a step or so that doesn't happen in providedefault which happens in fullunattended.everything worked fine there, even with sp2 streamed before 3.so, i guess, it'll have to be full unattended after all.
