no video output in MPlayer

Featured Replies

I'm running Linux with just a command-line interface, but can't get any video output from MPlayer. I obviously can't use anything X11 related so I'm aiming for fbdev or fbdev2. I have compiled MPlayer with support for both, but I still get nothing. Maybe I'm way off on it entirely, not sure. Anybody have a solution?

Erm... how do you expect to get video without a graphical interface? The command-line shells are just text (until you start running overlays on them). As far as I know, mplayer isn't a standalone player on any OS - it requires another program to interface with. If you want a really lightweight GUI, XFCE is the way to go.
