vista -> xp issues

Good evening everyone!

1st - yes, I searched, I'm just a bit confused.

problem: need sata driver to install xp "no hard drive found" error

*downloaded driver from gateway, added it to nlite, made a new iso, disabled OEM preinstall (or w/e)

but still no go.

My Goal is to dual boot Linux / xp pro 64

idea: Can I extract the driver from the OEM recovery cd, add that to nlite, then save>burn>boot?

gateway model #: M152-S

Thanks in advance.. and I hope to stick around these forums for a long time, possibly help other members?

Nick

Here is a solution, but as you can see in the last 2 posts it´s not always working.

I´m not a novice when it comes to integrate SATA drivers into XP, but on some Gateway systems it´s almost impossible, as if the AHCI BIOS that get´s installed before booting doesn´t except anything besides Vista although in the BIOS there are settings for the installed OS even back to DOS. Gateway seems the only brand that keeps the "Disable AHCI" from the BIOS out, giving you a hard time to get XP working.

Welcome to the Forum by the way ;).
