error during last step

The preset looks fine, but the hotfixes/addons section is a mess.

First, for troubleshooting purposes, try without any hotfix/addon (if you have time/desire, but I suspect it will be OK).

Second, you must sort out that mess in there - check which hotfixes are for the service pack level you're working with - I see you start with XP SP1, then one approach would be to integrate SP2 (or SP3) + IE7 + WMP11 + net framework in one pass (without any other tweaks), then integrate hotfixes/addons for them in another.

I don't have experience with integrating IE7, WMP11 or .NET, but I read there are many quirks with them. Try searching the forum for the right addon/method to integrate.

I see you have even hotfixes for Windows2000 - double check if they apply to your scenario. (I'm too lazy to search every KBXXXXXX , sorry). :)

Recently I integrate only SP3 + few hotfixes that came after that.

*Edit* some obvious errors would be: you have WMP11 twice; the last two lines of xable-SP2-UpdatePack-June-v3.0.12a - double download? No wonder it doesn't work - you must clean up that mess.

Hello,

What I had done was to go to MS updates and clicked on the link to see what updates were downloaded and installed on my pc and then went to the site and downloaded them all and put them into a separate folder just for the updates and hot fixes. There were a few that as the integrating process was going on a pop up screen would tell me that it was not meant for my version and that it was not included. I just clicked okay on those and later looked back to see what they were and realized that some of those were for IE6 and now IE7 is installed on my pc (but use firefox) and I did notice that when the screen popped up it stated for Windows 2000 but I was just going by the information that I got from the MS updates site for the KB numbers for the updates installed.

I guess I will just skip the hotfixes and just make a slipstream cd with SP2 (the current one is an OEM that already has SP! and some hotfixes on it) and keep a cd with the IE7, Net Framework updates and WMP11 on that just in case I need it.

Thanks!

I started over and just created an iso using the windows xp pro disc that I have which has sp1 and some hot fixes on it (oem) and integrated the sp2 onto it and created the iso and then a cd with no problems.

Just one more question. Do I have to start all over again in order to try making a new iso/cd integrating the hotfixes into it and or just IE7, Net framework or the add ons?

Thanks for all the help - it has been Greatly Appreciated.

The best would be to start with clean SP0 or SP1 (be careful about that hotfixes), but if that's all you have and works for you... oh well... :)

You don't have to if you're satisfied with the result (if it works without problems).

There were opposed oppinions on that, but I always do this: In first pass integrate all service packs/updates/hotfixes (and addons if I did them :) ) and in the second pass do all the removals/tweaks/services. It seems logical to me.

Hi There!~

I did start all over again from scratch using the oem windows xp pro disk that I have (which has sp1 and apparently some hotfixes on it - found out about the hotfixes when tried making my disc the first time).

Anyway, I started over and just integrated the SP2 into the original oem disk that I have. I then created another disk (that is when I realized that using the same folder where I save the oem info to would already include the sp2 into it) and added the Add-Ons from this site.

The only thing is that I noticed that when I put the new CD into the CD-Rom drive it does not start automatically like the original oem disk does. I can click on the drive to open it and the screen for installing the program is there but it does not run automatically. Why is this?

Thanks for all the help and assistance!!

When? On a booted windows? Installing which program? NLited Windows is best installed when booted from the CD. Of course, you can run it from Windows (that's Manual Install/Upgrade) but there were some reported problems with that, especially with latest nLite (or XP SP3).

Otherwise, what you're describing is Windows Autoplay function. You can restore it if you copy Autorun.inf from your original CD (and any files referenced in it, if not present in the new CD).
