endeavornet Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I'm trying to add the printer driver for an HP 4200 series printer to the WindowsXP install disk. I've downloaded the driver and extracted the files from the the executable. I then add them in the drivers section of the nLite wizard. It adds the drivers without any problems and I can see the drivers on the CD in the I386\NLDRV\001 directory. After installing Windows using the CD and plugging in the printer, it detects the printer and starts to install the drivers, but fails trying to find some of the files. The files that it can't find are in the one of two cab files on the CD in the I386\NLDRV\001 directory, but those cab files only contain a single .cat file in the windows\NLDRV\001 folder on the computer. Have I done something wrong? Is what I'm trying to do possible?
TranceEnergy Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 afaik cat files are security files for drivers making them signed i guess. To ask the obvious why dont you just unpack the cab file and what happens then? Also id check into the inf files looking for that cab file on the original drivers and see if things even up.
