fatbot Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Greetings to allI am looking at completely wiping vista and installing xp home on my laptop (Compaq Presario C700). I have recently purchased this laptop so everything came pre-installed with no discs. From what I understand I just have to boot from my old xp disk and format the hard drive and then follow prompts from there. I have heard that I need to check that XP drivers are available for all my hardware before doing this. What exactly does this mean?Is there any information I seem to be missing before I wipe it all? Many thanks for your assistanceFatbot
TranceEnergy Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 ..check that XP drivers are available for all my hardware before doing this. What exactly does this mean?Well if you dont have your drivers for your hardware either on the xp cd, or ready to be installed from disk, you could be left with a system with no internet connection, no grapics card support except basic vga, no sound, no printers working and so on.Google is helpful tho:I searched for HP presario c700 drivers, and it came up with different version of the c700.You should download drivers suitable for your computer and correct operating system, before you try reinstalling system.
TechFind Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 You have to integrade sata drivers in Xp_CD or use F6 and a usb_floppy.
