Brando569
I have an old IBM 2210-24E rackmount router that I got from a friend a few years ago and I never did anything with it except mess around with it when I got it, its been sitting in my closet for awhile and I want to make sure it works before I sell it. The problem is that I dont remember anything about how to configure/telnet into them, I took a cisco class in HS about 4 years ago but I forget everything from it. Right now I have it connected to one of my ethernet ports via a Cat-5e cable, I dont know what its ip address or anything is, the only thing I remember is you have to greet the router (type "helo")
joe43wv
The easiest way to connect to it is through the serial port if availble. If it is then you can run hyperterminal through the serial port and get it up and running.
Brando569
I dont have a serial cable available to me, and I dont really want to go out and buy one just so I can make sure this works. It's not possible to do it via the ethernet jack?
joe43wv
Ya it's possible. I've just found it easier to use serial. Try using a crossover cable to connect through the console port.
