Whats a clipboard and where is it located in a computer? (with OS vista)

The term clipboard is commonly used in multifuctioning* software ( like word, excel, and acess )

* I forget the term for programs that can use data from other programs.

The "clipboard" is basically data that your computer holds on to until you release it or it is automatically transfered to another program.

Everytime you type or injest data the previous action is stored on the clip board ( memory)

Bigger power usage programs like Quark, PaintShop, Corel, and others has a bigger and better clipboard to store actions from years in the past. However these programs literally saves the data and request do you want the data on the clip board for another time or a simular message.

The bigger problem is that with the constant usage of memory ( clipbaord ) the PC might breakdown or Hard dirve ( if moving ) might stop and you will have to restart.

A recent exaple of the clipbaord is the program Bittorrent while the data is on your PC if for some reason the computer turns off the data will be lost and disregaurded as empty space.

Meaning that while data in the clipboard ( wherever it might be ) on the Hard Drive or Memory itself.

It is only for a limited time.

In short CLIPBOARD is a fake ( fancy pants ) term for memory. Kinda like people who think using DOS basic constantly makes them a programmer or look smarter then Homer Simpson GUI users.
