Dislocated Time Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) Hello.I tried installing nlite on a computer that just had its OS installed. nlite tells me that I need Dotnetfx installed in order to function properly, so I download Dotnetfx and try to install it, only it doesn't install just telling me that the following error occured during setup: The installation package or a needed file could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it. I JUST DOWNLOADED THE F***** THING FROM MS!!! I went home to my computer which has no Internet connection and tried it there... it doesn't work there either. I came back to work and read the information about Dotnetfx and found out that it needs internet explorer 5.01 or higher which I didn't have on my PC. So, I get IE 6.0 installed on my computer at work and the thing still doesn't work. I thought maybe it has something to do with the extreme firewall that I have on my PC at work and decided to take Internet Explorer 6.0 and dotnetfx along with nlite to my PC at home.Installing Internet Explorer on a PC with no internet connection seems to be something that only insiders know how to do. I searched the internet for information and found out how to download the files using the ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d:1 /s:""#E" parameter, but then I drove all the way home with the files on my USB stick, tried to install using the downloaded setup file and guess what... the thing tells me that it can't download the components. GREAT JOB MS!!!! I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to install these files on my browser that has NO internet connection. Edited May 14, 2008 by Dislocated Time
DigeratiPrime Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 First what version of the Windows OS are you trying to install nLite/.NET/IE onto? The "Alternative, unofficial runtimes for nLite":"Framework Lite 2.0 R3 | 6.9 MB" (nLruntimeR3.exe) was just pulled recently:http://www.msfn.org/board/Missing-nLruntim...nLruntimeR3.exeYou might want to try the repack on RyanVM's sitehttp://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/
Dislocated Time Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 The OS that I'm TRYING to install it onto is Windows 2000...
cluberti Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 From where did you download the installation package? It sounds like a bad download, or you aren't running SP3 or SP4 on Windows 2000 (required). IE 5.01 is included in SP4, so if you're running SP4 there is no need to install IE6 - it sounds more like package error. The download I would suggest is here:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
Dislocated Time Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) Thanks guys but it hasn't helped yet... I've been busy with other stuff. My W2K has all the latest service packs installed.I have no idea why it's not working right now.I've downloaded Ryan's version, I've also downloaded any other versions of 2.0 that I could find but well... no chance...Since nothing worked, I decided to write my own RunOnceEx.cmd since nLite wouldn't install, because I need an install routine and can't wait until someone comes up with some bright idea why Net Framework won't install on my PC.
