NegitiveSinX Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Hey guys, I've searched this a few times on here and on Google and not really getting anywhere.I've been using nLite to make custom installs of both XP and 2k3 for a bit now, and every time "local groups and users" is gone. I can't even add it to my custom MMC, it's simply just not there. Now that SP3 has rolled around, I'm going to make another image and I was to know if anyone knows what item I'm removing that's causing this to disappear. Thanks

ramasan Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 can someone please give more detail to the suggestion? this is the exact problem i am having. i am not sure where i am selecting/not-selecting that feature.so it might be easier for someone else to find this on a google/forum search, specifically:install using nlite 1.4.9.1 (however this seems like its not version specific issue, rather setting issue).upon installation, the "Local Users and Groups" section or tab is gone under Computer Management.maybe this functionality can be restored via registry rather than reinstalled?
ramasan Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 (edited) after spending a bunch of time googling, and trying to copy/paste lusrmgr.msc from my laptop to the machine in question, i have given up.for sure i would have been back in business with a new install, but i figured i would try to add a bit to the conversation.i could not re-enable the mmc plugin, even after copying lusrmgr.msc to the machine. im sure there is a regedit or security policy setting somewhere, but its not worth it to me to hunt it down and kill it.reinstall here i come.*edit - after creating a new burned disk from a new session, where i only chose to update drivers, i had the same missing local users and groups.i had to do a new install on a new machine, add my intel AHCI drivers and nic, then reinstall xp sp3. at that point, i had my local users and groups snap-in in the MMC.dont know if it was something i did, or something wrong with nlite. im just sayin... GrofLuigi Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I keep losing it too. Red X always. Can't remember (haven't checked) if it works directly after installing a nLited OS or it gets screwd up afterwards with my "tweaking" (read: butchering) .I remember there was a warning in nLite in some totally unrelated component about it, but I specifically kept it few last times and nothing.GL
