NotesPack Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Hi everyone!I have a 2GB USB flash drive. It is a new one and for the last two days it worked perfectly. But today I experienced some problems with it. When I inserted it in the USB port, the flash drive was recognized by the OS, but when I clicked on Removable Disk (F:) in Windows Explorer, I saw nothing! The drive was with some files just yesterday, but now, there is nothing! I viewed the drive properties, and I was sincerelly shocked: there is 0 bytes free from total 0 bytes. I ejected the drive, and inserted it again. Now, I saw already my folders, but unfortunatelly, when I clicked one of them, it was empty, so the problem was the same when I viewed the drive properties (0 bytes free from total 0 bytes). After some time, I inserted the drive again, and it worked good for a time (I even tried to copy my folders to the hard disk), but while it was copying (there were ~50% completed), the drive disappeared again, so the process was interrupted.I tried this drive on other machines, and there it works good, without any problems. What is the problem?Any help is really appreciated (however, I should mention that I don't want to format the drive because there is some serious data stored). Thanks!
Ponch Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Take a backup asap. Then go for furter testings with your drive on other computers and with other drives on your computer. I suppose you've tested it on more than one usb plug from your computer ?
NotesPack Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 Take a backup asap. Then go for furter testings with your drive on other computers and with other drives on your computer. I suppose you've tested it on more than one usb plug from your computer ?I tested the drive on several machines. And I did even more - I tested the flash drive on the same machine, but with other OS (it is Ubuntu 5.04 Hoary Hedgehog Live CD). It worked in the other OS very good. But when I return to Windows, the same problem appears again. So, as I see the problem isn't the flash drive. May be there is some bad software installed, but the other flash drives are working good on my machine.Any ideas? Thanks!
