WDS mixed mode in Windows Server 2008

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am just wondering can you have Windows Deployment Services-mixed mode in Windows Server 2008?

I have been using mixed mode in 2003, and I want to continue using it in 2008.

I very much delt it.

you can only get mixed mode if you install Server 2003 pre SP2 otherwise you cannot install RIS to then go WDS mixed mode. the only possible way of doing it would be to upgrade your server 2003 with WDS Mixed mode installed to server 2008.

But I heard that you can only get Native mode in Windows 2008 Server.

I can confirm this. The only mode WDS will be operating in within Windows 2008 is native (*.wim) only. If NOT, then something is wrong....
