Your network setup

Before I post my network can I ask, what is the best way to go around creating one of the nice looking diagrams people have here? Is there a simple program for this kind of thing or is it all done in paint

I saw a post from Mr Snrub say he used Visio. That looks to be a little expensive for me

So any good free programs? There are programs at school I could probably use too so just recommend me something and the school might have it.
