Icon size order/display issues

First off I must say that I absolutely love XPize.

Now on to my question.

I am replacing all or most of the default icons in XPize with my own versions (and replacing a bunch that XPize doesn't touch) and I'm having issues with certain ones not displaying properly. (example: the 48x48 size for TTF files is simply upsizing the 32x32 in stead of displaying the proper 48x48 size) I beleive I read somewhere that XPize fixes this by having the different sizes ordered a certain way in the file. Is this correct? Which files need this done to them? What order must they be in? How do I change this order? (what program should I use?) I currently use Microangelo and it has no provisions to change sort order, so it always seems to place the largest image first in the icon. I noticed some icons have the 16x16 size first (the thumbnail view in explorer seems to show this). Even one of my own icons has the 16x16 size first and I can't figure out how I did it, nor can I seem to get the order to change for others.

Can anyone shed some light on this, or am I completely off base here?

I've noticed that the thumbnail view for XP often shows 16px icons even though the .ico file contains larger versions. Your question about icon order got me thinking if this is the same problem.

I downloaded Icon Sushi (free) and loaded an .ico file contain icons from 16x16 to 128x128. This is one of the icons that XP displays as 16x16 in thumbnail view. According to Icon Sushi, the 16px version is last in the list. I tried moving the 128px version to the bottom and resaving, and sure enough thumbnail view now shows a nice large icon. Alpha channels are still not shown properly however..

Anyway, I think you might be able to fix your problem with Icon Sushi.
