Outlook won't open from explorer

When I click an email address in internet explorer I get the error message "can not perform command because default mail client not properly intstalled".

I use outlook and have reinstalled three times, have set it as the default e-mail program and seems to be working fine.

Any ideas how to fix this?

You set the default email client in Internet Options as well?
