Ceroz Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) Yesterday I made an image of my Vista with integrated SP1 with vLite. I removed WMP11, since I use VLC and Winamp, but now I could slap myself. I forgot you need WMP to play most movies in your browser. So I downloaded WMP11, but the install just closes down. It opens, I click validate, validation goes good, next, then I should get the EULA, but it just says 'Please wait' and then just kills the process. I've tried running it as administrator, under XP SP2 compatibility, even extracted the setup, then extracted another file called wmp11.exe, which holds all install files (double install files?), but neither of those setups works. I can get the ' twice extracted' setup_vm.exe to get to installing WMP under XP SP2 compatibility, but then it also closes when it's nearly done. Anyone has an idea of what I can do to install WMP11?Edit: I've been thinking, if I make a new image with WMP11, and then do a sfc scannow, would that pick up WMP? Also, the installer might use some parts that originally belong to IE to view some stuff? Can't reinstall IE , but I tried using the IE folder of a friend, doesn't work. mara- Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 And where did you downloaded WMP11 for Vista??? Since WMP11 is built in Windows Vista, you can not download it anywhere! Only what you can do is make new ISO and reinstall Vista.Cheers

Anyone knows what files the sfc check restores?
Ceroz Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Ok man, I made a new image. I didn't have any empty DVDs left so I did an update instead of a fresh install, and now it's hella slow. But I think this is common if you update, isn't it? I'll try reinstalling tomorrow.
