Installing Win98SE

Featured Replies

Hello everybody!

So, few days ago I decided to install windows 98 se on my system. But problem occurs when I want to do it .

My PC specs:

Intel Pentium 4 ; 2.4 Ghz

RAM: 1Gb - 2x512Mb

Maybe someone of you could explain me how can I install win98 on my PC with 1Gb RAM!?

Have you read the thread that say "Help: I need to Get 2GB installed RAM working in Win98SE" and is still on the 1st page of this very forum ? That'd be a good start.

+ "problem occurs" is quite vague.

Looking at the CPU speed, he could be up against the timing loop problem which gets reported as an NDIS failure. The 1GB would (judging from other postings) probably be taken in its stride.

It should install just fine w/ 1gb ram.

What sort of 'error' is occuring? We are unable to help without knowing exactly what you're issue is. Best I can figure is removing a stick of ram if it isn't a single 1GB module, and then try installing. Once installed, run 'MSCONFIG' from start->run and limit ram to 512. Reboot and then install any packages / updates you need to and then uncheck the ram limit option in MSCONFIG since the unofficial service packs address this problem.
