ODC Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I'm installing Windows XP on a new motherboard with a new HDD. It is appearing as the H drive. I want C drive. Any help?
eyeball Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 unplug all your drives except the one you want windows on and reinstall it.
Ponch Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 unplug all your drives except the one you want windows on...and the one you install Windows from (CD DVD).You probably have a (5in1?) card reader that takes the first drive letters.
ODC Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 The problem turned out to be a drive emulation mode (SATA->PATA) in the BIOS. After disabling this option, windows once again claimed the C: drive.
dappertje Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 You need to disconnect de usb cardreader or disable usb in the bios. Then windows wil install on the C: drivergds The Dap
