Windows installs as H drive. I want C!

Featured Replies

I'm installing Windows XP on a new motherboard with a new HDD. It is appearing as the H drive. I want C drive. Any help?

unplug all your drives except the one you want windows on and reinstall it.

unplug all your drives except the one you want windows on

...and the one you install Windows from (CD DVD).

You probably have a (5in1?) card reader that takes the first drive letters.

The problem turned out to be a drive emulation mode (SATA->PATA) in the BIOS. After disabling this option, windows once again claimed the C: drive.

You need to disconnect de usb cardreader or disable usb in the bios.

Then windows wil install on the C: drive
