gary8877 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 (edited) Dear Support ProfessionalI combined SP2 and SATA drivers with XP Pro SP1 OEM CD that came with a Dell desktop by choosing Integrate SP and driver options in NLite. Successfully booted and installed from the cd on an HP dv6500 laptop, that originally came with vista. Now I cannot activate Windows. It says incorrect key. The key I am trying is correct, but it does not work. also tried copying the OOBE folder from my Dell desktop to HP laptop, but no luck. Also tried with Keyfinder and PcKey, they show me the same key that I tried. Also tried booting windows in clean mode without services and drivers, no luck. Please help. ThanksGary Edited February 13, 2008 by gary8877
Kelsenellenelvian Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 You'll HAVE to get another copy of windows. Just like geek is saying you simply cannot use a CD built for a Dell computer on another computer and expect it to work.
gary8877 Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Hi guysThanks for the reply. I just wanted to confirm before spending money on XP Pro retail version.Gary
Sojourner Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Just out of interest, does this mean that slipstreaming SP3 with a generic OEM copy - that is, not a manufacturer's OEM CD - of XP SP2 won't work either?
