avinitski Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 hi is this possible?1 Netgear wireless router1 laptop with vista1 laptop with XPthe laptop with XP is not in range of the wireless router but always very close to the other laptop with vista on it.is it possible for the xp machine to connect to the vista machine wirelessly and use that for net traffic?i have looked into ICS but it appears ICS will only enable on the ethernet port and not the wireless connection, is this correct?and is it possible to do what i need?thanks.
eyeball Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 you can enable ICS on a wireless connection so that should work no problems.
avinitski Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 firstly thanks for replying.option is not there on the wireless connection but is there on the ethernet port. im thinking it may be because the wireless port is in use? ICS requires 2 connections, 1 in and 1 out to my understanding anyway and im maybe thinking ICS can only be enable on the port not is use? im guessing here but suppose it does make sense?would love to hear more opinions on this.
cluberti Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 option is not there on the wireless connection but is there on the ethernet port. im thinking it may be because the wireless port is in use?ICS cannot share a wireless connection, only wired. If you need to extend your WAP's range, consider Netgear's extender products, since you're already using a Netgear WAP:http://www.netgear.com/Products/PowerlineN...ts/WGXB102.aspx
