Some of shared XP folders are invisible for me...

I have a network consisting of 3 xp's and one 98th

users using xps can see all others folders, but 98 user can see just a few folders from each of other users - as far as i know its because of long folder names ??

how can i make those folders visible ? don't want to change names of them because of too many dependencies between those computers.

have 98se + se21 + ke0.3

AFAIK there's no way to make them visible, but you can use the 'net use' command to map the directories to a driveletter.

net use X: "\\server\long sharename with spaces"

how can i find out these directories by command line ? do i NEED to see them on the other computer's screen and copy its name ?

Have you tried using the Network Wizard from XP? It has an option to create a disk so 9x/ME machines can see more of the network.

When you setup sharing in the XP machines for the directories that the Win98 machine can't see, you were informed that by using more than 12 letters, some machines wouldn't be able to see them for networking purposes. You chose to ignore that warning. Microsoft, for all its faults, at least knows when to tell you something important. The problem is how do you know that THIS warning was the one you actually needed to heed to. Go figure.

There is no other way i know of to correct this problem except by biting the bullet and spending the time required to re-make the network share folders, this time using less than 12 letters.

im not gonna rename all the folders - its better for me to remap important of them with batch file on 98 starts.

i used THE floppy....and nothing
