oD1Nz
I've recently setup a RIS server and have been experimenting with it and nLite (the latest version, 1.4.1). In particular, creating unattended images. This has been hindered slightly by the fact that on all installations, I'm prompted during the setup phase about what to do regarding missing files. They are the following:sysbck.dllsysbck.infnhelper.exenlite.infand, if I choose to have nLite display its OEM branding, I'm also prompted about the following files:oeminfo.inioemlogo.bmpThe following is my configuration (you can safely ignore most of the unattended information in there as RIS handles that):[Main]Env = 1.4.1 - 2.0.50727.42.Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 1Target = Windows XP Professional SP2 - 5.1.2600.2180 - English (United States)[Tasks]Remove ComponentsTweaksCreate a Bootable ISOOptions[Components];# Applications #GamesInternet GamesPinballScreensavers;# Languages #;ArabicArabic (Algeria)Arabic (Bahrain)Arabic (Egypt)Arabic (Iraq)Arabic (Jordan)Arabic (Kuwait)Arabic (Lebanon)Arabic (Libya)Arabic (Morocco)Arabic (Oman)Arabic (Qatar)Arabic (Saudi Arabia)Arabic (Syria)Arabic (Tunisia)Arabic (U.A.E.)Arabic (Yemen)Divehi (Maldives)Syriac (Syria)Urdu;ArmenianArmenian;BalticEstonianLatvianLithuanian;Central EuropeAlbanianBosnian (Latin, Bosnia and Herzegovina)CroatianCroatian (Bosnia and Herzegovina)CzechHungarianPolishRomanianSerbian (Latin)Serbian (Latin, Bosnia and Herzegovina)SlovakSlovenian;CyrillicAzeri (Cyrillic)BelarusianBulgarianFYRO MacedonianKazakhKyrgyz (Kyrgyzstan)Mongolian (Mongolia)RussianSerbian (Cyrillic)Serbian (Cyrillic, Bosnia and Herzegovina)TatarUkrainianUzbek (Cyrillic);GeorgianGeorgian;GreekGreek;HebrewHebrew;IndicBengali (India)Gujarati (India)HindiKannada (India)KonkaniMalayalam (India)MarathiPunjabi (India)SanskritTamilTelugu (India);JapaneseJapanese;KoreanKorean;Simplified ChineseChinese (PRC)Chinese (Singapore);ThaiFarsiThai;Traditional ChineseChinese (Hong Kong S.A.R.)Chinese (Macau S.A.R.)Chinese (Taiwan);TurkicAzeri (Latin)TurkishUzbek (Latin);VietnameseVietnamese;# Network #MSN ExplorerWindows Messenger;# Operating System Options #File and Settings WizardManual Install and UpgradeSearch AssistantTour;# Directories #SUPPORTVALUEADD;# Compatibility #[KeepFiles]msconfig.exenhelper.exenlite.infoeminfo.inioemlogo.bmpsyssbck.dllsyssbck.inf[RemoveFiles]clock.aviyahoo.bmpswtchbrd.bmp[Options]ProfilesDir = "%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings"TargetPath = "WINDOWS"temp_dir = %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\TempAdvTweaksNoISOPreset[Patches][Services2][Tweaks]Boot and Shutdown-Disable automatic restart on System FailureBoot and Shutdown-Status Messages-ExtendedDesktop-Show Windows version on DesktopExplorer-Add (un)register libraries in Context MenuExplorer-Add 'Command Prompt' to folder context menuExplorer-Launch folder windows in a seperate processStart Menu-Reduce popup delay[Unattended]ComputerType = DefaultMaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk = 12RestorePointLife = 30DesktopTheme = Default||AutoUDay = 5AutoUHour = 15ProgFilesPath = "\Program Files"[GuiRunOnce][Drivers][Hotfixes]I've tried a number of combinations, even disabling SFC (which I'd rather not do), to no effect. What can I do to avoid these missing files from "going missing"? I had also noticed that nLite images seem to confuse RIS slightly as they do not have an "ntldr" file created in the "[path to image]/i386/templates" when you associate the image to RIS, unlike any other Windows image I've used (fixing is simply as easy as copying the file from another source, but it's an extra step). Might this be related? Edited January 6, 2008 by oD1Nz

oD1Nz
All of my "clients" are currently virtual machines (VMWare Server), if it makes any difference (I know the BIOS that VMWare uses is a bit old, but it shouldn't matter). John456
I get "NTLDR is missing", but I still have to try to recreate the CD.
oD1Nz
I've tried burning the image to a CD to eliminate the RIS factor and am still getting the error - what am I doing wrong?
Kelsenellenelvian
Your errors are definatly not common ones. The misssing file are very key and nlite would never delete them so something when horribly wrong. The ntdlr boot issue however is a common on that just pop usp every so often and is commonly caused by a bad burn.
oD1Nz
For anyone that's interested in a fix for this when using RIS, you simply need to copy of the files from the nLite working directory - for whatever reason, RIS doesn't copy the files when you add the image to the server.
