I've recently setup a RIS server and have been experimenting with it and nLite (the latest version, 1.4.1). In particular, creating unattended images. This has been hindered slightly by the fact that on all installations, I'm prompted during the setup phase about what to do regarding missing files. They are the following:

1. sysbck.dll
   
2. sysbck.inf
   
3. nhelper.exe
   
4. nlite.inf
   

and, if I choose to have nLite display its OEM branding, I'm also prompted about the following files:

1. oeminfo.ini
   
2. oemlogo.bmp

I've tried a number of combinations, even disabling SFC (which I'd rather not do), to no effect. What can I do to avoid these missing files from "going missing"? I had also noticed that nLite images seem to confuse RIS slightly as they do not have an "ntldr" file created in the "[path to image]/i386/templates" when you associate the image to RIS, unlike any other Windows image I've used (fixing is simply as easy as copying the file from another source, but it's an extra step). Might this be related?

I experience it too. Funny thing though, NOT AT EVERY COMPUTER! I tried older machine, a P3, the error shows. anyone?

All of my "clients" are currently virtual machines (VMWare Server), if it makes any difference (I know the BIOS that VMWare uses is a bit old, but it shouldn't matter).

Bump...

I get "NTLDR is missing", but I still have to try to recreate the CD.

I've tried burning the image to a CD to eliminate the RIS factor and am still getting the error - what am I doing wrong?

Your errors are definatly not common ones. The misssing file are very key and nlite would never delete them so something when horribly wrong. The ntdlr boot issue however is a common on that just pop usp every so often and is commonly caused by a bad burn.

For anyone that's interested in a fix for this when using RIS, you simply need to copy of the files from the nLite working directory - for whatever reason, RIS doesn't copy the files when you add the image to the server.

Cant find the flast two files in the Nlite directory. Please advise.
