When I run CPU-Z v1.42 it shows the multiplier to be 6 (most of the times) and rarely it changes to 8, but returns to 6 immediately. The core voltage varies from 1.152V to 1.296V. So, the core speed shows 2000 Mhz. When I run Intel Processor ID Utility the core speed is 2.66 Ghz. Is this normal....is it because of a bios setting?Please help! xrs Posted December 18, 2007 Share Posted December 18, 2007 This is normal because SpeedStep technology has been enabled by default on newer Core 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedstep) which saves power by decreasing the CPU multiplier and voltage according to current CPU load.
