faimag Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Hallo. I would like to share with you all my experience with nLite-ing Windows XP Tablet PC ed 2005. Windows XP Pro has always worked fine for me, but Tablet turned out to be a bit tricky. You may already be aware of these peculiarities, but here they are anyway:1) Removing .NET Framework (under OS Options) kills the Tablet's on-screen keyboard (you just get an empty frame) and does not allow Tablet Input Panel to launch. I wasn't able to correct these problems post-install with dotnetfx 1.1, 2, or higher.2) It's self-explanatory that you need to keep Tablet PC and Speech Support (under Multimedia), but this is not all. For the Speech feature to function properly, you also need (possibly) MS Agent and (definitely) Input Method Editor (under OS Options). In one installation without either of the two, Speech just crashed all the time. I installed the MS Agent core components and SAPI 4 post-install but that didn't work (that's why MS Agent gets a "possibly"). In another installation (with 10-20 others in-between!) where I kept both Agent+IME, everything worked and the Tablet finally listens to what I have to say!Well, that's it! Hope you find this useful.
doufer Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 could u please show me your ini file cuz i had a similiar problem awhile ago
faimag Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 Here you go:Be aware of the following: 1) This is for an ASUS R2H UMPC.2) Target is XP Pro with tablet features integrated.3) It's a no sounds/themes and no WMP install.4) Some (perhaps 5 out of 80) hotfixes included in Xable’s 7z pack show up again post-install (I ignored them).5) I keep the latest hotfix for IE7 (now it’s the KB942615) and apply it post-install. For some reason, IE7 refuses to launch due to something going on in the urlmon.dll, but applying the update resolves this (this is not the case when you integrate it; I have no idea why).I've never had issues 4 and 5 with XP Pro (without Tablet) so I guess they have something to do with adding the tablet features.==================[Main]Env = 1.4.1 - 2.0.50727.832.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600
