Nerwin Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Alright guys i really need your helpI am working on my grandfathers computer and it has a Celeron D 340 2.9ghz with 768 megs of ram and a 160gb hard drive. Now would a P4 2.0ghz be faster?
Nerwin Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 (edited) well, i just tried it and actully it was a lot more fasterstarted up fastermenus faded more smoother and everything.IDK, maybe i am wrong, but it seems better. But could you tell me why? Edited December 3, 2007 by computerMan
puntoMX Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 That would make no sense...The P4 2.0GHz has a FSB of 400 and 512kB of cache, the Celeron D has 64bit instruction set, 533MHz FSB and 256kB cache. The cache isn’t doing so much and the 933MHz difference should be way faster...I would say, try a BIOS update…EDIT: No 64bit...
Nerwin Posted December 3, 2007 Author Posted December 3, 2007 thats what i was thinking and for some reason the Bios wont updateI could try again
Zxian Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Overall system performance doesn't just depend on which processor you have. Menu animations and such depend on whether or not you have the proper video drivers, loaded programs, etc etc.I don't think those two processors are interchangeable anyways. I'd stick with the CeleronD and just give the system a good cleaning.
