kcdrummer Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Hello all, I am trying to make a simple nlite slipstream for the first time but with all the packages that you can addon from the nlite addons page, do you have to unrar them first? I'm sure the answer is yes but I couldn't find if you should or not. Also I found the link to the lite xp hotfix updates and the package comes in a 7zip format. When you unzip them it creates a whole directory full of .dlls and the like. When adding these updated do you just add the folder or do you add each .dll and other files seperately when using nlite to add hotfixes into your xp install cd?Thanks in advance.
Arie Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 You should not extract the files, you just need to add them packaged.

So even the xp hotfixes that people have put together as a pack update like Xables Light xp-sp2 update http://udp.xable.net/slipstream.html ? The pack comes in a 7z compressed file so shouldn't that be uncompressed before slipstreaming it with nLite?
Legolash2o Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 (edited) on the nlite hotfix section you just add the 7z the same as a normal hotfix If you get an error message doing that then just extract but nope, no need to extract Edited November 14, 2007 by legolash2o

So just for future reference nlite can add .7zip and .rar files without you decompressing them. Are there any other compressed formats it takes like general .zip files? I'm pretty amazed at this little proggy so far.

What I do know however is that you cannot simply add every archive to your installation and expect nLite to deal with it. Simply extract an archive which was made especially for nLite to see what the contents are like; you will notice that there is an INF-file in the archive root... Or was it INI-file? Anyway, this file is put there on purpose so that nLite knows what to do, et cetera. In short, you cannot simply add every archive to nLite, only archives which are made especially for nLite.
