what is the purpose of these folders in my i386 directory on my W2K SP4 disc?

i386\is

i386\ia

i386\ip

i386\id

i386\iw

apparently...

\i386\is = W2K Server

\i386\ia = W2K Advanced Server

\i386\ip = W2K Pro

\i386\id = W2K Datacenter Server

\i386\iw = W2K Powered

Can someone plz tell me more about them and what they are used for? also... what would happen if i was to take them out???

nah its just folders that are added to ur W2K disc once u slip sp4 into it

I've not ever seen those after slipping SP4 - only on multiboot MSDN DVDs. If that's not a multiboot from MSDN, that's NOT normal .

i meant once i extraced the sp4 files from the .exe into a folder... those were subfolders in i386

why would you extract a service pack just to go looking at random files/folders?

I extracted the hotfix, and sure enough - they're there. They appear to contain files from the SP for those specific versions of Windows.

So how can i remove all the folders besides the W2K PRO one to save space? do i simply delete all the others? Please help me out

You could try - I'm not sure what would happen, honestly, but I would build up a VM in Virtual PC or VMWare and try installing the hotfix package on a W2K VM with the folders removed to see what happens.
